Hydraulic bending press , replacement of obsolete control system
A metal bending press was becoming more difficult to repair due to obsolescence of critical parts of the control circuit.
The control system was analysed to determine the functionality required and what replacement or additional sensors would be needed.
Additional features were added in this process to allow recording of machine settings for faster machine setup in the future.
A new PLC based control system designed, built and bench tested. The old controls were removed and the new system installed and tested.
In addition new safety features in the form of a pull line along the entire length of the pressing jaw was added to ensure greater operator safety.
