Thermo-graphic Inspection and Hazard Identification.
Using FLUKE PyroBlend technology it is possible to see the thermal gradient overlaid on the visible image.
In this case an equipment was reported to have intermittent problems. Upon bench testing and a preliminary scan with the thermograph, it was immediately possible to pin point the cause of the problem.
On removing the plug from the socket the thermal imprint transferred from the plug was apparent, identifying the plug as the source of the heat.
The wires exiting the plug exhibit the highest temperature, indicating a poor connection in the circuit at this point.
Disassembly of the plug and a firm pull confirmed the diagnosis of the wire being fatigued and broken at the strain relief.
